The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship’s yearly exhibition New Work by Faculty opened for the summer on Friday, June 13th at the school’s Messler Gallery. The 22 woodworkers, designers, and artists represented are leaders in the fields of furniture making and design, wood turning, marquetry, and carving. The exhibition runs through September 13, 2025.
21 current-year instructors at the Center are represented in the exhibit. Their work is exceptionally diverse, as befits a school whose teaching philosophy encourages each student to find their own creative voice.
International exhibitors in “New Work by Faculty” include: Heidi Earnshaw (Canada), Adrian Ferrazzutti (Canada), Aled Lewis (Wales), and Graeme Priddle in collaboration with glass artist Shona Firman (New Zealand). Exhibitors from across the U.S. include: John Cameron (Gloucester, MA), Erik Curtis and Larissa Huff (Philadelphia, PA), Melissa Engler (Asheville, NC), Aspen Golann (Rollinsford, NH), Garrett Hack (Thetford Center, VT), Patrick Kana (Boston, MA), and Matt Monaco (Springfield, MO). Participants from Maine include: John Bryan (North Yarmouth), Yuri Kobayashi (Rockport), Peter Korn (Rockland), Matt McLaughlin (Rockland), Philip Morley (Spruce Head), Mac Ray (Damariscotta), Osamu Sassa (Camden), Libby Schrum (Camden), and Chelsea Witt (Eliot).
