Max Brosi
August 17-21

This course is for intermediate woodturners interested in learning the skills, techniques, and thought processes needed to turn multi-axis sculptural pieces. Through discussion and demonstration, Max shares his extensive experience with multi-axis turning, from wood selection, design work, and visualization to completing unique sculptural pieces. Along the way, he addresses tool sharpening and handling, safe work holding, application of rotary burrs, external and internal turning, power carving, refining forms, and surface treatment.

Students create a series of multi-axis pieces, beginning with the simplest forms before evolving into greater complexity. The start of the week consists of exploring and getting comfortable with the mounting and turning smaller pieces to gain the experience and confidence required to tackle a larger project by week’s end.

Max Brosi is a professional wood turner in County Leitrim, Ireland.
