Adrian Ferrazzutti
June 22-26
In this workshop, students learn to work confidently with commercial veneers by designing and building a finely crafted box. A box offers an ideal introduction to intricate veneer work, allowing students to practice precise layout, grain matching, and clean execution on a manageable scale. Each student creates a box of their own design, featuring a continuous veneered pattern that wraps seamlessly around the sides.
Through demonstrations and one-on-one guidance, Adrian leads students from initial design through final finishing. Instruction covers the fundamentals of veneering, joinery appropriate for plywood construction, machining and applying hardwood edging, and the precise installation of hinges. Attention to sanding and finishing delicate surfaces ensures that students leave with the skills to build an elegant, well-made box and the foundational knowledge to take on more advanced veneering projects.
