ROCKPORT, ME – “New Work by Faculty,” an exhibition of contemporary wood furniture, sculpture, and stringed instruments has opened for the summer at the Messler Gallery of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport. The show runs through September 12, 2018.
The 27 woodworkers, designers, and artists represented are leaders in the fields of furniture making and design, wood turning, marquetry, and carving.
“As we celebrate the Center’s 25th anniversary, this exhibition highlights one of the school’s great strengths, which is the professional accomplishment of its instructors. Their collective expertise in design and fabrication is a major reason why the school’s educational programs are so effective and successful,” says the Center’s Executive Director, Peter Korn.
The instructors participating in the show come from as far away as the United Kingdom and Australia, and as close as Camden and Rockland. The show is a testament to what can be achieved when impeccable technical skills are applied to sustained aesthetic exploration.
