Aaron Fedarko
October 14-18

Learning to work with veneer opens up a whole new world of design freedom for woodworkers! In this class, students discover the wide pallet of colors and grain patterns made available by incorporating veneer into their designs. Essential techniques will be covered, including how to handle, cut, join, and press veneer successfully. Students will receive hands-on experience working with both types of veneer, shop-sawn and commercial. Aaron will cover basic parquetry patterns and marquetry techniques, and how they can be incorporated in a variety of furniture designs. Then, each student will design and build their own game board – checkers/chess, backgammon, shut-the-box game or something else—using a layout they create. Students will select from a variety of veneer materials on hand for the class as they learn these valuable new skills!
