The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship (CFC) is a nonprofit, international school dedicated to providing the best possible education in wood craftsmanship and design. We are seeking a Communications Manager to implement a broad range of marketing and communication efforts in support of our mission and programs. This position reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with program and administrative staff.

Position Overview
Working closely with the Executive Director and other staff, the Communications Manager organizes and implements CFC’s public-facing communications strategy to promote programs, gallery exhibitions, fundraising efforts, and the work of our students, Fellows, and alumni. The ideal candidate combines creativity with attention to detail and has a demonstrated passion for education, craft, and design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule content for CFC’s social media platforms
  • Manage communications for events, including gallery exhibitions and the Open House
  • Maintain the school’s website (WordPress)
  • Help write, edit, and distribute a monthly e-newsletter and periodic press releases
  • Write and edit blog posts, alumni profiles, and other promotional copy
  • Develop and execute print and digital advertising campaigns
    • Including Google Ads
  • Assist with the layout and production of print newsletters and the course catalog
  • Uphold consistent branding across all platforms and communications
  • Track analytics and engagement metrics to inform marketing strategies

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Professional experience in marketing, communications, or related fields.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency in social media and digital marketing tools.
  • Experience with website management.
  • Comfort working with photography and video (shooting and basic editing).
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collegiality, flexibility, and enthusiasm for craft and creative education.

Preferred but not required:

  • Background or demonstrated interest in woodworking, craft, or design.
  • Experience with Constant Contact or similar e-newsletter platforms.
  • Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics.

Compensation and Schedule
This is a part-time, hourly position at $30.00/hour, working 20 hours per week. Flexible scheduling during business hours (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm) is available. Hybrid or remote work may be considered for the right candidate, though proximity to our Rockport, Maine campus is strongly preferred.
