July, 2021 – Limond Grindstaff is a fulltime woodworking hobbyist and retired telecommunications executive in McLean, VA. He originally came to CFC in 1999 to build his skills through a two-week Basic Woodworking course, and has followed up with additional courses since. “Each time I attended a class,” Limond writes, “my confidence and skill level just accelerated to a next-higher level. I fell in love with woodworking! My style of furniture and woodworking projects got much more ambitious. My skill levels are so beyond what I ever thought I could do.”

Over the years, Limond’s interests moved toward period furniture, and he joined the Society of American Period Furniture Makers. Some of his incredible period work is featured here.
“I love to be in my shop, sweeping the floor or building a new project – it’s all joy,” Limond reflects. “For me, at some point during the planning and building process, I get pulled into the piece I am building. At that point I can clearly see the grain of the wood and feel every corner and joint I cut. It’s a very nice feeling.”
