August, 2021 – Since 2012, Jonathan Brower was the proprietor of J. Brower Furniture in Newport, RI. He rebranded in the summer of 2021 and has taken on a partner. They now call themselves Mosaic Woodworks, and focus on designing and producing custom cutting boards and tables.
When Jonathan originally came to CFC to take the Furniture Intensive, in 2011, he already had a BFA in Fine Arts from Syracuse University and ten years of woodworking experience in custom cabinet shops. Knowing he planned to open his own business, his specific goals for the course were to better his woodworking and design skills and “plug into the greater furniture community.” Following the Intensive, Jonathan served as a CFC Workshop assistant in 2012. He has since returned as an instructor for several workshops, while also producing the online course “Cabinet Case Construction” for craftsy.com.
“What I learned at the Center,” Jonathan says, “is that well-designed and executed work is a mixture of patience, practice, and persistence. What brings me joy today is getting to create something one-of-a-kind for a client—something meaningful and useful that will be in their life forever.”
