Dean Babin is a designer/maker of furniture and home goods based in Poughkeepsie, NY. He graduated from the Center’s Nine-month Comprehensive in 2017 and the Turning Intensive in 2018. After training under furniture makers in Maine and New York, he established his own workshop in New York’s Hudson Valley. His work has been featured in the Currier Museum of Art, the Frick Collection, and the Wharton Esherick Museum. In 2021, he received the Wharton Esherick Prize for Excellence in Wood at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show, and his Emmet Lamp won the 2020 Pinnacle Award for Lighting from the International Society of Furniture Design.
