Staff Fellowship (11/6/2018)

Job Description   

The Staff Fellowship is a year-round position that offers part-time employment as the school’s Social Media Coordinator to support participation in the Fellowship Program. The successful candidate will take full advantage of the Fellowship to further her/his woodworking goals, while working 16 hours per week on staff to implement the school’s social media presence and assist with various clerical responsibilities.

The position is designed as a 2-3 year commitment to assist emerging makers in launching their careers.

The benefits of the Fellowship are many, and may be reviewed at http://woodschool.org/furniture-making-courses-programs/studio-fellowships. (The Staff Fellow is not subject to the Fellowship requirement of contributing six hours/week to the school.)

Social media responsibilities include strengthening the Center’s online presence by

  • creating content for Instagram and Facebook,
  • publishing the monthly e-newsletter,
  • maintaining the blog on the school website,
  • managing Google Adwords,
  • creating video content for the website, and
  • undertaking new initiatives.

Clerical responsibilities include various administrative tasks, primarily within the Student Services department, such as telephone reception, database input, and mailings.

The ideal candidate is an experienced woodworker with a record of creative achievement, ready and eager to explore new work, an avid participant in the universe of social media, a skilled writer, and a team player with interpersonal skills suitable to a collegial work environment.

Hours and Compensation

Office hours for the Social Media Coordinator are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.–12 p.m., and Fridays from 1-5 p.m., for a total of 16 hours/week. Evening hours are occasionally required for special events and openings. Compensation is $16/hour, without benefits.
